New to Heavy Truck F-750 ownership

Just purchased 1971 F-750, in very good condition. Has 391 with 5 speed trans, very little rust. Previous municipality vehicle, they built the custom flat bed around 2006. Like a time capsule.

Drove it home in 0f temps, heater works great. No tachometer, and no governor since they replaced the distributor with a modern Pertronix. I kept it under 50mph to play it safe, need to install a tach so I know if I can push it much higher. Engine sounds like it's screaming at 50, but it has an aftermarket aluminum fan on engine and I know they can make a lot of racket. Brakes work awesome, but carburetor needs some love. Had to keep choke 1/2-3/4 on the entire drive, so something is messed up with the Holley.

One of the best things was the folder of service history all the way back to 1972, about 2 inches thick. Its had a lot of service...

Glad to be here again (password problems). Presently working on a 52 COE F6, 75 F250, and a 77 Highboy. Daily drive a 2011 F 250 SD with 6.7 Powerstroke. Couple of flat fender jeeps. Have used this site for years to solve problems.

Beautiful. You'll like it. I had one a few years ago. Just remember many standard 390 FE parts will not fit on the 391 industrial. Strong old beast though.

Solid axles

what heavy duty pickups had solid axles. ( contemporary with disc brakes and power steering) I’m looking to put it in my 54 c500. Crazy that I can’t find this on the internet!! I’m hoping it’s a truck that Car-part.com lists btw...

The F53 from 1999 and up are considered a "Superduty" chassis. They share most of everything from the F-series of the same years. That being said, some of the equipment, say the rear differential, are better discussed here in the Large Truck forum.

It all depends on what you're asking about.

No worries, between me and @85e150 you will be pointed in the right direction

1978 F600

Hello everyone, I have a 78 Ford F600. it was purchased new with a twin for the farm in 1978. it is one owner and has about 52K on it. it has had a bit of a hard life being a grain truck on a farm in the Palouse. I just got it back up and running after losing a wrist pin bushing in it. it now has a 361 instead of the original 330.

Hello, had a friend send me this vin for a dump truck. I think I found some things out about it, hoping someone can tell me all the details. Late 70’s, gas, 385 2v or 4v? Am I close? Have been looking for a dump truck for a while.

Thumbs up 93F700 429Gas NEWB

Hey all, I am the go to guy for a Tree Service Co. In most cases I can find whatever They need to keep the branches trimmed.
BUT this BEAST is a horse of a different color. We needed a replaced 429 gas engine BUT our tree team failed to photograph all the pully belts hoses IE no bracket diagram. HELP

I have been reading through The Large truck forums and hope some one has same engine and wouldn't mind taking a few shots.
Looking forward to sharing the build.
