Spare Tire?

hello everyone I need some help. I have a 1984 F250 with a flat. I'm tring to change that flat but can't get the spare tire off to change it.

It cant be that hard to take it off but it is giving me heck. Can some one tell me how to remove the spare?

get some penetrating fluid.
most likely really rusty, yes?
penetrating fluid should help

Yes extreamly rusty. Ended up useing a jack to jack the spare tire holder up to take pressure off then moving that eye let over and letting it down. I still think I did it wrong there MUST be an easy way.

Does that eye let unscrew all the way?

Do you know if you got the standard spare tire carrier, with a Eye bolt. Or do you have the optional Slide out carrier? Both are located under the truck in the same place.

It has a big eye bolt right by the bumper I had to lift the tire move that bolt over and let it through the larger hole to get it down. No how do I put the other one back up. ?

That eyebolt is supposed to loosen and tighten.

You take your factory stock tire wrench, place it through the eye hole, and turn it up and down. when it's loose enough alighn the eye bolt with the slot.

Then you take the stock tire wrench, place it into the round tube attached to the carrier. The stock wrench will fit right into the hole there. Lift up on the carrier with the wrench at the same time move the eye bolt toward you, let the carrier down and the eye bolt pass through the slot.

Remove the bracket that holds the tire to the carrier... (most are missing this bracket by now)

installation, is the same as removal, except you need to have the eyebolt turned at a 90 degree angle from the slot.

Ahh I see I think I'll need that part. I had to use a Screwdriver to turn it. I think I'll need that factory part and to replace the eye bolt and clasp itself to make it easy. Thanks very much for the help!

took a grinder to mine... its gone now
BTW does anyone want a factory spare that holds air? still has the **** on it 0 miles and i'll practically give it away (dont want to take the time to scrap it)
