Kansas Auction

I just got my lastest issue of Old Cars Weekly and found the ad for a big auction in Newton, KS. I've seen this place advertised for years on the net as the "Your Kansas Connection" : http://yourkansasconnection.net/Man. Their lastest updates to their web site were from 2008. Does any one know the story behind this? I assume they just got too old to mess around with this stuff.

I wish I had the money to go but I thought maybe some of you guys in the area might be interested:

Met Dick & Karen many yrs. ago at the Daytona Turkey Rod Run .Have purchased some parts from them in the past .In fact with his help one of the '52's became street legal .Spoke with him earlier this yr . & he did state that they did not attend any or a few swap meets .I beleive Bob is correct on the reason .I can call him and verify if any one is that curious .

He passed away, and she is liquidating with the help of a couple Hamb members. There's an IH pickup I'm interested in there as well.

Scott,

I remember that HAMB post, I didn't realize it was this guy the HAMBer was talking about. I doubt much will be headed to the scrapper. If the pictures are a good indication there looks to mostly usable stuff.

It's kind of funny, 10-20 years ago most people probably wouldn't even look at parts like these but with the demise of the good, old time back country junk yards even parts that have some major rust are starting to look rebuildable. I've even noticed this on the cable car shows and car magzines. 10 years ago if a car show or magazine had an article in it about restoring or hot rodding a car the car was always some rust free granny's car and they would say they were starting with a beater. Anything with a little rust out was concidered a parts car. Now I've seen quite a few rot buckets, ones I would concider rot buckets, get a work over in the shows and magazines.

I guess I'll have to put that on the calender to attend. It's about 100 miles from Manhattan, but would be fun to go to. My wife would kill me if I drag another vehicle home, but maybe I can get away with "one piece at a time."

If I had 40 acres in the country it would probably look like that place. LOL

Red face Great...

...I don't think I can sell a 963 mile ride straight out I-80 just to "look"
at some parts...

Although...I DID make a "short" list......

1948 Ford Pickup Truck, 4x4 Hot Rod
1935 Ford Panel Truck, Complete
Lots Misc. Automotive Parts
1956 Ford Cab & Chassis
1948 Ford COE Cab-over Truck
(43) 1948–1952 Ford Truck Cabs, Some with Doors, Some Without
(15) 1948 – 1952 Ford Truck Doors, Loose
(2) 1953 – 1955 Ford Truck Cabs
Old Ford Tailgates
Lots of Fenders - Mostly Fords
(54+) Pickup Hoods, Chevy & Ford, Mostly 1940’s, Some 1950’s
Several Ford 460 & 429 Engines, Lots of Flatheads
1951 Ford 2-Door Hardtop, Victoria

That is a beautiful sight...

Be sure to bring a trailer, and please drop one of those hoods off here...maybe a flathead or two as well. What's a few more miles from 963?

Too early to tell

I'm going to try and go if I can get away, of course I'll have to tell the wife I'm doing something else, like going to the tiddy bar. I spy a few 56 hulks laying around, there is bound to be something I need. Or just go and salivate over that 34 sedan delivery.

Well Dang, I dont' think I will be able to go! my wifes doing a wedding shower for her sister that day and apparently it's supposed to be a couple's shower shoot me now talk about boring....
sounds like the perfect excuse for me not to be there! ( at the shower that is)

My wife actually said she didn't care if I went but I would have my 4 and 6 year old in tow which would be fine too I guess, but my mother in law might be upset with me and prob her sister too if I dont go to boring shower???
hmmm wouldn't be the first time i've been in trouble LOL

My wife said I could go as long I brought her something running and with no bullet holes. ya you know for an anniversary present! Ya my wife actually asked for a vacumn cleaner one year for christmas or her birthday I forget which. No I didn't fall for it, but found out later she was dead serious.
I love my Wife!

Let's see, "something running with no bullet holes". You could probably find one without bullet holes and the something running part could be met with a cheapie $5 watch from wally world that could be thrown in the glove box.

I wouldn't be so sure. At the recent Dick Kemp auction there were a lot of complete and restorable rare trucks that were sold to scrappers. Most bidders didn't know who the scrappers were or they might have saved a few more trucks.

If someone is going I could use a cheap set of 51-52 F1 fenders.
