Ok,I've got a nube question,but nonetheless-which direction does a '67 289 turn?I need to hook up the tq,and don't want to spin it the wrong way.

the crank spins clockwise as looking at it from the front?

 

Right , the only reverse rotation would be some boat motors .. as far as i know... Lew

 

Imagine trying to start the engine with a crank handle. That's the way it rotates. Another way to remember the direction of rotation of the engine is to try to tighten the harmonic balancer bolt. Tightening it rotates the engine in its running direction.
So far as I know, all car and truck engines rotate this way.

 

So what would you recomend to achieve torque on the flexplate?To get 75 ft.lbs,the engine will turn the wrong way.I actually moved it a hair the wrong way,do you think it will hurt it?

 

No it will not hurt it , just sick a big screw driver or pry bar where you can stop the motor from moving.... Lew
