One of the grease fittings for the spindle/kingpin is broken off. Any suggestions on how to remove. Pliers and screwdriver were not successful. Don't want to screw up the inside of the sleeve where the kingpin goes so I want to be careful as I proceed. any suggestions?
do you have a drill press? take an easy out and press down hard on the fitting and very slowly turn it. like with a pair of vise grips on the chuck. lot of pressure and slow constat speed. should come right out. if you dont have an easy out a flat head bit will work. lightly tap it into it to get some grip.
you might be able to put it in a vise and pound an apex bit into the hole. then put a 1/4 wrench on it and turn and hope to hell it doesnt break the bit
Ive used a small carbide bit to remove some of the greese fitting material on opposite sides just up to the threads and then kinda broke it in half while still in the hole with a small flat head and it popped right out. if that dosent work just drill and re-tap it to the correct size.
Cut a slot in the top with a die grinder, put the thing in the oven and bake at 150 degrees for about 15 minutes then put a drop of the Compound W liquid (nitrogen) on the remains of the grease fitting. It will break loose and turn out with a small screw driver.
