Staggered Ring Gaps

What is the recommended staggered ring gaps when installing pistons? Is it top ring 12'oclock, second ring 3 o'clock, top oil ring 6 o'clock, and bottom oil ring 9 o'clock? Or should the two oil rings be 180 from each other the top and second 180 from each other?

Thanks..

This is the most common recommendation I've found for piston ring spacing. It doesn't specify which compression ring (top or bottom) should be on the left of the wrist-pin, but do them all the same for one side and swap for the other side. Same for the oil rings. Not that it should really matter, but I'm just a bit of a stickler for consistency.

Hope this helps.

I always put the comp rings in line with the pin (180* apart) and the oil rings in line with the skirt (180* apart), in any engine I build.
