Differences between a 99 2v and 08 3v?

Has anyone owned both? I have a 99 2v with 4.30 gears, SPD, Volant and FM70 with a Super Chip 1715 tune. It does OK towing my boat and camper but I keep wondering what a 3v and a 5 peed auto would be like? Are we talking night and day differences or just a little better? I know the newer ones also offer more payload which would also be nice.

Everything I have read/heard says that between the added HP/TQ and the 5sp auto, it is quite noticeable.

I would say though, that if your truck is paid for, in good shape, and tows/hauls what you need fine now, the added cost of a newer truck is kindy questionable unless you have the extra coin to throw around.

With the stuff you've got on yours, you'd be able to keep up with a 3V V-10. If your going to put them stock to stock there's big difference in power and overall drivability.

I assure you-he can put every bolt on that's made for the '99 2V 6.8L,and it won't touch a 3V 6.8L. It is a day/night difference.

Apparently, between a '99 and a 3-valve, it's a night-and-day difference.

However, I wonder how much heavier the new trucks are over a '99?
