It's another very warm one here in the lovely (yuck) dessert.....
Rob I hope you can get your wife to see that things aren't that bad here in Az. When I got pregnant with Mady I did the same thing, told Troy we needed to move back to Az so I could be close to my family again. That was a big mistake but there was no stopping me with those lovely hormones in the mix. Just remind her that she still has her job here, you just did work to your house and you might not be able to get that money back if you try to sell right now, and she can go back and see her parents on the weekends if she wants. I know that doesn't help but moving while your pregnant isn't the brightest idea...
The current round of "I want to move back" started last Thursday when my FIL was taken to the hospital. He had a really bad headache ... and kept working. One of his employees even found him asleep at his desk. Once my MIL found out what was up, she called the doctor, and they said take him to the ER. Well, the right side of his brain (location of the tumor, focus of the radiation) had swelled, and that was giving him the nasty headache, and once again making him sleepy.
He's still in the hospital. I don't have an update yet today, but he is not doing well right now. As of this past Saturday, he didn't know who my MIL was, nor did he recognize his own son. He speaks, but not about anything that's going on around him. My BIL said it's like his brain is stuck at the office. A neurologist finally got in to see him yesterday, and he basically said this is a "normal" side-effect of radiation. He also said that my FIL's body simply had enough of surgery, chemo, radiation, and working 40 hours per week, and this is its way of shutting down for awhile to protect itself. He feels confident that my FIL will snap out of this state, but it's quite painful for the family to watch and wait out. We just keep praying that the meds and some time in a hospital will make him well.
I have to give credit to my MIL. She has told my wife twice that going back to TN at this point, even if it's just for the weekend, is not a good idea. A pregnant woman does not need to be around someone with a fever, someone who's also full of dangerous chemo meds. It's not like she could do anything to help, either. I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to keep my wife calm and HERE.
I'm not looking forward to going out for my next trip and leaving my wife here by herself, but ... that's the job. It sucks for both of us. We just have to deal with it.
