Same here, for reliability and ease of bulb changing I am thinking of sticking with OEM.
For ease of bulb changing?
If you call them, Ford will tell you that there is no way to change those sealed lights, and the only way to have all three lit again is to replace the entire light bar!
Usually when i see people with those led bars with lights burnt out, i assume they are the $40 ones from walmart or wherever. I would hope that the $120 Recon ones don't burn out in the first year...

Mine are replaceable. And listed in the owners manual as 194's, the same as the cab lights.
I think the LED bulb style are brighter and usually last longer than incandescent bulb style light bars. I have the RECON LED white lightning and it is still working after 4 years.
I do have it plugged into the trailer 4 wire connector, but might just hard-wire it into the tail light wiring harness for a solid connection
BTW, why does everybody block their license plates?
just curious

While I agree that it is likely that good-quality LED ID bar lights will last longer than the typical incandescent bulbs, why would you want them to be
BRIGHTER?
There's a spec on both the wavelength and luminescence of marker lamps, and I would find it odd if they were brighter or a different color red.

Mine's connected to the wires from one of the license plate lights that I removed when I put in a 3rd trailer lighting plug. (The old smaller round size 5pin? Fits perfectly in the hole left by removing the light) No issues - I did use a sealed 2 pin connector from amp.
Here is a wiring tip atleast on an 01 F250. The factory harness has a 4 wire and 7 wire plug by the hitch. If you unplug the 7 wire plug , and swap it for a newer ford plug usually $25 -$30 on ebay, the new plug has the 7 wire plug plus an additional 4 wire plug attached. That leaves the original 4 wire plug for this mod.
I know this is a year old thread, but I a just about to install the bar one mine. No problem tapping into the plate lights? The wire looks pretty small?
