I was at Meijer last night and they had LUCAS rear end fluid there that mentioned perfect for race cars, trucks, suv etc..for towing etc.
Said great for rear ends with limited slip.
Mine is a 97 XLT 4x4 4.6V8 and I do believe to have the limited slip. I know when I lay on the gas both wheels spin. Also has a tab on the rear end cover, which a buddy of mine said usually indicates the limited slip.
So the question is, is this stuff good to use or is there something better or one I should stick with.
What weight too?
Lucas usually makes decent stuff, but I know many of you out there have tried different fluids.....trying to get a good one in there.
Ford specifies 75w-140 full synthetic, plus friction modifier if you have an LS. You need to look at the tab on the rear to be sure. If there is an "L" between the numbers, it's a limited slip i.e. 3L55. I'm sure Lucas is as good as any, how much "better" is probably open to debate, unless you own an electron microscope.

Do you still add teh friction modifier then? The lucas bottle said it's not required.
if you do use the lucas stuff and it says not to add the friction modifier, do your rear end work and take it for a spin. if it needs friction modifier the rear end will whine and chirp around corners.
i would suggest sticking with motorcraft fluids however.
