If you search the forums, there are multiple people who've reported that they've passed emissions testing with ease even though they have EGR system deletes. One poster said that his numbers were better without an EGR system.....imagine that EPA!! The only times people appear to have problems are those with a full EGR delete and they don't pass the visual inspection. Hence the reason you should go with a "sneaky up-pipe" setup in case they do a visual inspection where you live.

Whould a egr delete be any different on a 08 E-350 VAN? I suppose tighter working spaces of course. But did ford did these bugs worked out in the EGR system by then. Of course you know they still put this engine in the vans until the end of 09

Sir, I plan on doing a delete much like yours I have access to a welder but my torches are up in PA so I have to have someone cut the plugs for me before I tear into it on the weekend. I could see that they were 1/4 inch thick, but could you tell me what diameter those plugs are?

Thank You
Jeremy

Hey Jeremy, I know one size is 1 1/2", and it smaller on the next two. I was using a holesaw to cut out the plugs (1 5/8" holesaw). Then I was grinding them down to fit. I should have recorded the information of the measurements . On the next set, I'll have to take measurements so I can have them cut out and ready for next one.

Sorry Jeremy,

Also, what's your address so that I can send you my up-pipe? Just playin'.

Thanks,

Well, I noticed that the truck will stay in gear longer when pulling a hill with a load. I also noticed that the EGT's are lower and the truck is running cooler with/without the load.

My address is..............................Somewhere......... ........Far far away.

Isn't that how it's always been? Lol.

Sorry Jeremy,
Thanks anyway, I am sure it is probably time for me to go by some new hole saws anyway. I am always looking for an excuse to buy new tools.

Thanks Again

Those are the only reasons I would really want to block off the EGR system: lower coolant temps and lower EGTs. Oh yeah, and because EGRs were never in mind when they created diesel engines!! If they were, then they would've never designed intercoolers since the EGR flow completely voids the effects of the intercooler! I HATE EGR Systems!!

Unplug EGR Valve - Change PCM Function?

I enjoy this thread and want to get the EGR system disabled in some way. Some guys suggest that unplugging the EGR valve will force the PCM into mode that reduces performance, a code is thrown but will not ignite the CES light. If you weld the EGR valve shut and leave it plugged in and eventually destroy the valve - so what, just buy a new EGR valve.

Can you install an EGR delete kit without jacking the cab up?

absolutely you can. I see no need to jack the cab up to do it, except for just extreme ease of installation. You can probably have it done by the time the cab is up and down again.

PID 0400 will put the PCM in a reduced power mode to limit NOX

It will not set a CEL on 03 and 04 federal trucks.

P0400 EGR Flow Failure (outside the minimum or maximum limits) The EEGR system is monitored once per drive cycle during steady state conditions above 48 mph . The test will fail when a malfunction is detected by PCM calculations indicating the EGR flow is less or greater than expected.

EEGR valve stuck open or closed
Connector to EEGR not seated
EEGR motor windings shorted or open circuited
No power to EEGR
Harness open or shorted to power or ground
Vacuum signal to MAP restricted or leaking
MAF sensor signal erroneous
Damaged PCM
Carbon build up in EEGR valve seat area
One or more sensor not responding or out of range
All of the following sensors input data to the PCM for proper operation of the EEGR system: ECT, CPS, IAT, MAF, TP, MAP. Any DTC relating to these sensors must be resolved prior to addressing

Could you please share what you did to accomplish this magnificant feat of engineering? I would like to do that to my 06 F-250 6.0 Turbo.
