I've got a co-worker who wants to get rid of four 35" BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tires on his recently aquired '79 Landcruiser. He isn't looking to get rich, he just wants to get some tires a bit smaller. These are pretty brand new looking...maybe 95% rubber left.
I, of course, want these tires He says he'll be glad to sell them to me at a "decent" price (I don't think he has any better sense of value than I do.)
I've got 33" Interco Thornbird something or others that really stink for daily driving on my 75 F250. There is probably 70% tread left. I will get rid of these (and also don't care about getting rich).
The bottom line is: what's a fair amount to pay him for the set of four tires to take them off his hands?
And the bonus question: What do I sell the four Interco tires for that will likely result in a quick sale?
if the tires all fit the same wheel why not offer a trade?
That is a simple solution that we may have overlooked...and I often do ignore the obvious, but, unfortunately he wants closer to a 31 inch tire and something that rides better than the mud-boggin tires I have.
Speaking of overlooking the obvious: just realized today that his tires are on narrower wheels than mine, something like 15" versus 16.5" on mine. Suddenly it's no deal.
There is a guy on the local craigslist looking for newer 35" tires, offering either cash or "AKs" so I referred it to my co-worker. I don't think he's interested in the rifles but maybe he can strike a deal!
Yes, thanks for the correction--tires sizes are still a bit hazy for me, but I need greater and more accurate knowledge on the subject. And it will save me a bit of embarrassment in the future! Thanks, Dan.
