Ok, Dave I have a question for you. I'm pretty sure I put teflon tape on almost all of the bolts. Will the oil end up in the radiator or water end up in the oil and how long will it be before I notice I missed a bolt with the tape? I haven't run the truck very much but I have checked the coolant in the radiator and don't see any oil. Or will the water pump leak the oil or water to the outside of the engine to where I can see it running down the front of the engine?
Splash lubrication on the timing gears, so that will not put oil into the radiator.
I use teflon pipe dope paste on the threads of the bolts going into the timing gear cover.
Teflon tape, will probably work, keep looking at the bottom of the oil fill cap.
When you see a cream colored sludge under the cap, or milk shake on the dip stick, you know the first thing to look at.
Since I do more plumbing than I do mechanic work, all my Permatex was hard.
But I have several bottles of pipe dope for water line fittings, natural gas line fittings and air line fittings.
