Injectors and shot type for 7.3L

I should have stated, that his old truck was an OBS, dont remember the yr, and he now has an 03 F350. He swears that the AA codes gave him better mileage and will put those in when he needs injectors. I am not sure what tune he has, but he is not hot-rodding thats for sure, Thats not him. He tows his 5ver with it and uses it for work.

The father of the HEUI? Nope. I worked at Caterpillar and was a design engineer for 7.3L HEUI injector. No one was the father. 30-40 engineers worked on this project. There is no trim codes for the 7.3L engine. Cylinders 1-7 are the same on prime injectors AB-AF, except AC. AA and AC are non prime, AC being HO for marine. AD-AF are low mass poppet with damped lower seat impact to reduce poppet valve noise at idle. Ford made no changes like Prime, long lead, low mass poppet, and damped poppet seating. Ford didn't design the injector and had no input to the design changes. For only did things like dead head the fuel rail which were detrimental to fuel system performance. It was up to the design engineers at CAT to change the injector design to meet emissions reqs and accommodate the issues created by Ford's ill thought out changes to the vehicle. Int'l designed the engine. Again not Ford's design. If this supposed HEUI father were real, he would have known that no electronic trim codes exist. The only trim that exists is the idle fueling compensation that is achieved from signals from the 60-2 Halofex crank position sensor.

You are correct. After I left CAT, I went to Sturman Industries who designed the 6.0L fuel injector. It was licensed to Siemens Diesel and Int'l Joint Venture for manufacture. Many of the problems between Ford, Int'l, and CAT continued in the new relationships between Ford, Int'l, Siemens, and Sturman.
