So this problem is in my car, not my truck, but a 460 is a 460 so here goes. The car is a 1976 Lincoln Mark IV with 120,000 original miles. I decided to freshen things up a bit, so I installed a new timing set and water pump, as well as a new Holly 670 cfm Street Avenger carb. To put on the carb I had to switch intakes with another I had laying around (Ford part # D4VE), so that it would be a square bore mounting flange. (factory was the motorcraft 600cfm spread bore) Originally this engine had a tube in back connecting the two heads together for exhaust to go to the smog pump. I deleted all emisions from the car and plugged the holes in the back side of the heads for that tube. I also deleted the EGR, so I blocked off the exhast hole inside the carb mounting flange on the intake. But heres the new problem, The car burns oil heavily out the right side exhast pipe. It also blows it out the dipstick. The PCV IS working as it should. I checked the plugs and the right side is saturated with oil, while the left is normal. PVC valve is on the right valve cover, and a breather on the left. No oil out the breather on the left side- its clean. 25lbs of oil pressure @ 190 degrees temp. I only have 20 miles on her since I did this work, so I couldn't have just went through 4 sets of rings, all on the same side, in 20 miles. It worked well before I changed things. I can't understand though how it pushes oil out the dipstick, and out the right side, but not the left. Obviously the crankcase pressure is too high on the right but why? Is there exhast pressure going through somewhere inside that "new" intake I don't know about? Am I pumping exhaust into the crank case? Or are my piston rings screwed and in need of a rebuild I can't afford right now?
Thanks in advance guys I need to get this thing wrapped up and quick, its supoosed to be my daily transportation for a while in about two weeks.
Maby some crap got down in the heads drain holes ?
I know there was alot of carbon inside the vally I cleaned out- but I made sure none fell down in I was very meticulous about it. But my dad put on the new valve cover gaskets while I was at work -he needed something to do I guess. He said the right side had more carbon build up than the left. What exactly could happen if he got some down in like what you said?
