03 Escpae AC

My 03 Escape's AC is cutting out on me and switching over the defogger everytime I accerate. what could be causing that?

You have a vacuum leak in the line tot he cntrol head or a leak in the control head itself.

where is the control head located?

It's attached to the backside of the dash bezel (the surround that goes around the radio and hvac controls).
