Have you checked to see if yours has been serviced by the dealership under the recall for the cruise control. And no the cruise and the 4ways are not tied in together.

Does the horn work?
If it does the clock spring is ok.

There are 2 flasher "cans", the 4 way flasher should be located on the back side of the fuse panel. Look at the diagram.

Do a search for "05S28" Re: the master cylinder switch.

Hope this helps...

Ravenwood,

I'm unfamiliar with the cruise operation on a diesel engine.
Perhaps someone else will chime in, or you could post on the Powerstroke sub-forum

My horn and cruise control went out at the same time. What is the cause of this?

If both are out I would replace the clock spring in the steering column.

Edit: Check the fuse first and always disconnect the battery when working near airbags.

Since the truck is a 5spd, Can you start the truck without the clutch depressed? (Obviously with the transmission in the neutral position)

When mine went out it was the sensor on the brake master cylinder. There is also a sliding switch on the rod on the clutch rod going to the slave cylinder master cylinder.

If the cruise alone....
The TWICE recalled pressure sensor on the front of the M/C?

The same one that likely burned up my neighbors truck?
