I don't know, but I upgraded my two rear speakers and put a sub in the back behind the rear seat. Like the 2nd pic from countrycar which shows the sub and the rear seat folded forward. In the same picture if you envision the seat pulled back the two rear speakers are covered by the back of the seat. This IMO defeats the purpose of upgrading to a better quality speaker. I am looking at moving the speaker location up higher, I did see some after market headliners that have speaker mounts, but I could not find a kit for a CC. Just another option from my experience.
I have a few pics in the gallery of the center sub box I built. I had them both in a box like Country behind the seat but I thought it sounded too muffled. I have been really happy with this setup and didn't lose all the storage space behind the seat in the process. The one I built mimics the JL stealth box. At least that is where the idea started from.
Nice Job Mike, now yah got me think'n. So do you get cleaner sharper hitting bass sound, with this install? I might look into doing just this under the RR seat as well. Thanks.
Yeah, it is very clean, nothing is muffled. I had originally started with a box that I had already behind the seat and didn't care for it much as it didn't sound well.
Yep, 2 8" subs. Here are some basics I wrote up some type ago:
"Okay first off it has been a while since I built the box so going off of memory here. You are going to need to decide what type of wood and thickness you are going to use and also it will make it a lot easier if you have a table saw and either a brad nailer or finish nailer. I used 3/4 MDF for the base to mount the speakers and the rest is 1/2 MDF. I did mine pretty much all on the fly, take the center seat out remove the extra bracketing for the back of the seat so you are left with just the bottom section, much easier to work with. Remove the cloth covering, Use the foam pad to take some general measurements, I turned the pad side ways and traced the contour of the pad onto the 1/2 board. Came in from that about 1/2-1 inch, I'd recommend doing 1 - 1 1/2 inches in as my cloth cover ended up fitting tighter than anticipated. You will need a Die grinder or equivilant to cut the bottom of the seat pan. I already had speakers so I sat both in the pan, traced around and started cutting. Cut your 3/4" base board to fit the bottom of the seat, remember to use the same length as you cut the sides to. The main sides of the box and some of the box I assembled with out the metal frame. I used wood glue and on the inside edge of everything I ran a small bead of silicone to make sure it is sealed up tight. Once I had the basics of the box made, I bolted it to the metal frame using 1/4 bolts, two on each side. The time consuming slash fun part was cutting and installing the many pieces of wood for the front rounding. I guess one could simply square it off and cut the foam pad to finish off the rounding. I used and angle finder and the table saw pretty extensively at this point. Probably had about 20 pieces total to make the entire front portion, but it sure isn't going to move, and was going for the most volume possible in the box. I ran a single brace about 3 inches width across the center of the box to support the weight of passengers. Again, we are only talking about 1/2 MDF board, dense but not that strong. I positioned the brace as to not interfere with the two subs magnets. If using singe 10" sub, make sure you brace the box in such a way as to not interfere with it. I think all in all, I have about .8 cu.ft. for the two eights to work with, filled it up with poly filler then stuffed in the two eights. Put a 2" piece of foam over the top and front, then put the cloth cover back on, re-assemble and good to go. I think it took me probably about 4 hrs total working on it. Pretty much just set aside the day to do it as I had nothing else going on. I was and still am very impressed with the box, I had a box setup behind the rear seat for a while but it sounded really mushy and boomy. Same speaker used in center box and it sounds awesome. Fills in lower side very nice, don't have any chest thump feeling but will let you know they are there. I think being in the center of the cab helped out the distribution of sound as well, It sounds equally good sitting in the rear as well, not just a ton of bass. Good luck, let me know if there is anything else I can help with."
