Compressor swap?
I have adjusted the shims so that the clutch cycles perfectly, but the A/C is still not getting cool. Running roughly 42lbs on the low side.
A/C is OK between 800-1800 rpm, above that, i am getting hot air.
So, my question is, do I need to swap the compressor?
If not, what is my next move?
If I do have to change the compressor out, I assume I will have to replace the accumulator and the orifice tube?
Any and all help is appreciated.
You should be able to do a search a find a writeup on it, but if not, PM me and I can get it to you. Guys say they drop about 15 degrees on the air coming out of the vents with this mod.
I have only had my truck for a bit over a week and don't even have it registered yet, but even during the drive home something felt a bit odd with the A/C. Turns out on this truck, even with the A/C on, you still have hot water going through the heater core.
I'm not sure if there is a door or something that could be sticking open for you, but it can't hurt to do this mod, as cheap as it is. The nice thing is the heat will still work fine without having to go under the hood and switch anything.
I did not think about the mixer doors, so I will check that this evening.
Thanks for the help. I will revert with my findings.
