theyre the headman's from summet. from there ran 2 1/4" duel pipe to a duel in/out flowmaster super 40, and 2 tail pipes straight out the back. I have changed the carb to a 600 cfm, and the truck runs great. I ported the head to the gaskets, and installed a clifford 270 cam. the only thing I wish I wouldn't have done, is the steel timing gears. it is really loud, and people think there is something wrong with it.
A larger carb shouldn't run lean.... I have a clifford intake withy a holley 390 on it, with efi manifolds (basically shorty cast iron headers) Its a 6cyl don't spend to much money on it. The holley is a pain to tune, if I did it again I would buy a 2150 2bbl, new 185 bucks and from what I read easy to tune and get the job done.
here's a question, is it really worth it to do the intake, carb, and header upgrade on a 300? i keep considering it but is the performance difference really worth it? if i did it i would go with the offy 4bbl intake with a 390ish 4bbl, and either the EFI headers or a set of hooker headers i could get for 150....
also found a MSD 'blaster' coil i could land for 40...
yes it is worth it. not quite set you back in the seat power, but an increadable differance in proformance. gas mileage also improved, from 12 mpg to 18, as long as I keep my foot off the floor. biggest differance is on the big hills, just rolls along and keeps up with no effort. no more holding it to the floor, and watching the speedo dive down
Talked to a friend yesterday that drove his Pro-built 38 Chev. from Indiana to N. Carolina..GMC- 6/5 Speed. He said the first thing he needs to do is replace the Clifford with the Offy..No low end torque. Had to down shift for any incline.. This IS a 5 speed..but he was not satisfied with the performance..

is it worth that much?
it's all about what you are looking for, got all my stuff on ebay cheap, except the headers. I guess I have about $400 in it. I'm happy with it, no big block 460, but will definately raise a few eyebrows. best part is better fuel mileage
question about any of these intakes: whatcha do about the egr? the 300 head aint one you want a whole load of temps hanging around....
no more egr. if you want one, I guess you could take the spacer plate off an 80's 5.0 mustang. mabe weld a tube to the headers for it. the intake is long, and away from the block, I don't think the heat is a problem, if anything, just the oposite is true, you nolonger have the heat from the exhaust on the bottom of it
