2008 tailgate installed
Yesterday I scored a 2008 tailgate in near-mint condition for $150! Right color, with the step & handle, and I even got the necessary hinge as part of the deal!! The hinge was white, but a $3 rattle can of satin black paint, some sanding, and a coat or two sprayed on fixed that. Total time to swap was about 10 minutes! Me likey...

My original UnderCover tonneau cover busted a hinge (probably my fault) so I got the newer version a little less than a year ago... lucky for me, too. The new version has a "bump out" to accomodate for the wider top of the 2008 tailgate. Sometimes things fall in to place rather nicely! Last thing I need to do is swap the lock cores so that I can lock the tailgate up. I rarely do it, but it's still nice to have the option.
To be honest, I don't think I'll ever use the step & handle. If someone in the MD/DC/PA/DE area had a near-mint black 2008/9 tailgate & wanted to swap, I'd consider it. I'll be at the Carlisle meet too, probably just on Saturday though, but like I said, it takes about 10 minutes to do.

Totally jealous,my tailgate is faded w water spots and has alot of dents. Nice going and good job.BTW i have a near mint 02 tailgate if you want to trade.Black in color no dents or water spots ha ha....

If I find another deal like this, trust me, I'll ****** it up for a fellow FTE'er. Just ask JDecker about his KR running boards. Gotta look out for my brothers & sisters, especially in the dieselhood!!

i upgraded to an 08 bed and i honestly have a love hate relationship with my 08 tailgate
i love almost everything about it except it is sooooo light that i worry it will dent easy and i HATE the "super duty" written across the bottom

That looks really good. I really need a new tailgate, but I can find an 08 around here for under $300. I need a white one.

Looks great Brendan, Ive been looking for one of these tailgates too. At first I wasnt sure about the step, but that step would work PERFECTLY for when I have my truck camper on.

Thought I saw a white one in the classifieds for $250.
EDIT: It's in the classifieds over at The Nation, in the exterior forum. The tail gate is located in Kentucky.
