Sorry for any confusion here, I was just wondering if they could get reanodized. I know a member on here did. I wonder what all is involved in doing that...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GRILL...=p4506.c0.m245 Sorry I got the year wrong. Here is another company on ebay that guarntees the quality of thier grilles and they have an 800 number you can call and talk to them. Hope you find a great grille. These are only $194.00. I just replaced the grille on my 1973 Ford but I found it on craigslist for $20.00 off a ford truck that was being parted out but if I would have had the extra money I would have rather had a new one because this one is pretty pitted. Any one have any ideas about polishing these grilles.

Thanks but I have tried all these companies and they are all the same. When you call you get someone that can't undersetand you and you can't understand them and they can't answer any queations they only read the desvription that they have in front of them. I called them and they asked all these questions about the truck, color, trans, engine, size of wheels, all kinds of stuff that is not needed to get a grille. I talked to Dennis Carpenter and they have found the material to start making the oem grille and it should be available in about 4 months. That doens't help me now. If anyone has any other ideas let me know.

Other than Dennis Carpenter, LMC and OEM, all the others are cheap Taiwan garbage. Not worth $20. I bought one, tried to install and sent it back. Luckily JC Whitney has good customer service and gave me my money back. I ended up putting on a beat up OEM on.
Dennis Carpenter uses OEM tooling, LMC uses new tooling with chrome covered steel. Price is similar, I would go with the DC.
WOW! Glad mine is in good shape! Kinda scares ya to go out and drive it and have some simpleton ram into you and have to deal with cheap thin crap to replace it with.
Eventually Dennis Carpenter should eventually get them reproduced again. I still can't figure out why they can't find the correct grade aluminum. Geez, is there an aluminum shortage or am I missing something? Oh well. When and if he does, they are a very good product. I luckily found one from NPD last year (the last one they had). I paid a pretty penny though. $550 for the grill and $100 shipping. That's alot for just a grill. I should take it off, save it, and have an old OEM one painted up and put that on. Hopefully, DC will get them up running again because grills are a hot item and other cheap ones just don't fit right and look terrible. Even though I don't like the price, I'd pay for another one in a heartbeat for my truck as long as it looks good and fits right.

Every guy should read this! unless you're getting a grille from DC or an OEM grille from ebay/craigslist/local want ads or the salvage yard, ALL other aftermarket grilles are garbage shipped from overseas, i REPEAT, they are garbage shipped from overseas.
Where is Carpenter's grille made? Yes, he has the original tooling, but where is it? In Concord NC...or much further west?
I've been to DC's in Concord. There is no way he's reproducing the grilles at this location...there just isn't enought manufacturing space.
I can't answer that, if anyone can please chime in, DC claims to have original tooling and charges $550 for a grille, i've only ever heard good things about the grilles DC sells so if you're implying they are made elsewhere (overseas) then prove it, would i personally pay $550 for a grille? HELL NO! i'm too cheap, i'll source an OEM grille at the junk yard for $50 bucks (albeit with a few dings and scratches) and put the other $500 into other parts of my truck.

When I was at DC in June 2004 buying parts for my two 1963 Galaxies, I asked the fellow who was waiting on me where the truck grilles were made. He just smiled.
Like I said, DC has the Ford tooling, only where is it?
Consider how these grilles were originally manufactured.
Raw aluminum sheets were placed on a form, then a HUGE press stamped them out. The press alone was over TWO STORIES high.
Then after final polishing, the grilles were anodized. All this jazz isn't taking place in DC's Concord NC facility.

I understand the amount of square footage it would require just to stamp these grilles out, not to mention the space needed to warehouse a few tons of aluminum stock and the giant press, you've been there, i haven't, so i'll defer to you, but that still begs the question where are these grilles actually being made?
Whatever the secret to DC's grills being made, I'd sure like to know cuz made from original tooling or not, they fit and look great. Did I like paying $550 for a grill, NO, but it was a small amount compared to what I had already put into the truck. I tried to find a good cheap one and just couldn't find one worth putting on.
