I need to know where I can buy a grille shell for my 77 f100. I have bought 2 one from JC Whitney and one from bodyparts.com and both of them are not bright anodized aluminum they look like they have just been painted with silver paint. I really want the factory look. If anyone knows where I can get one please le me know. LMC doesn't even sell a shell for the 73-77 truck only 78-79. Any help would be appreciated. Or if anyone has had this same problem with the aftermarket grille.

 

Have you tried National Parts Depot, Blue Oval, or Dennis Carpenter?

 

I believe I just saw some at DennisCarpenter.com for $550.

 

If you don't mind a few dings and scratches check out your local salvage yard and pick one up for 40-50 bucks.

 

There is a company on Ebay that sells brand new Grilles for your Ford. I buy a lot of products off of ebay and have had great luck.

Go see if there is one at a junkyard that is in better shape then yours, then send it to get chromed.

The biggest pile of junk out there. The aluminum is so thin on those you can indent it with your thumb.

About the chroming My grille is in great shape I accidently got some cleaner on the grill enad it dulled the finish. If I chrome it will it match the factory trim since they are anodized from the factory and not chromed. I can't seem to find anyone that does anodizing.

 

NPD is a no go they only offer the satin painted finish they said the original no longer available. Does anyone know if blue oval has the original anodized grille???

 

If you chrome it the shell will not match the rest of your trim.

AFAIK, Dennis Carpenter hasn't had any of these grille shells for over a year. He does not know when more will be available.

Carpenter reproduces it, sells it to everyone else. When you call and inquire, DC says he can't get the correct grade of aluminum to repro them...whatever that means.

stardan: The ebay grille you posted a link to in Post #6 is for a 1978/79, not for a 1973/77.

What 1973/77 grille had parking lights below the headlamps? None.

 

You maybe able to get yours re anodized. Someone on this board redid their trim and grille and it looked amazing.
