ECU Calibration?
I'm currently looking to replace my truck's ECU. The numbers I can read on my ECU sticker, without pulling it out (need truck), are F6TF-EC HIX2.
Placed call to local dealership - part discontinued and gave a part number of F6TF 12A650 AJA.
Placed call to local parts store. Number given by Ford not helpful and they show 5 ECU's depending on calibration.
Found part on Ebay of F6TF 12A650 EC....indicates it was pulled from 1996 F150 but no engine size noted. Why would beginning four numbers of part number be different from Ford and the one that's original in my truck? How do I find out what my correct calibration is?
Hoping that replacing ECU will take care of a few problems. Last 5 years check engine light has been on with constant P171 and P174 codes, lean bank 2. Replaced: All three O2 sensors, mass air flow sensor, fuel filter (a few times), spark plugs/wires, EGR valve, and coolant temp sensor. Don't know what else to do. Temp gauge also is not working and have recently tested it - guage itself is fine. Truck doesn't want to start when hot, but once cooled, fires right up. Within the last week the battery light has been occassionally coming on and going off..... *Frustration*
Any help on which ECU/computer is correct would be helpful.
THANK YOU!
