Fuel Tank Systems

Anyone familiar with Transfer Flow Fuel Tank system? I am looking at the 47 gallon tank for the 2008 6.4L Harley Series (Crew Cab with 6 1/2 foot bed).
My biggest concern is how much lower the tank hangs than the stock tank. As long as it is well protected by the frame, I will be satisfied.

I had a 55 gal after market on my 01 excab short 4X4. It wasn't transfer flow (right now I can't think of the name but they are well known and out of California) it hung down a good bit. It was below the frame I'm pretty sure but it was made from good thick steel and I never had a problem hitting anything. Of course I didn't off road or rock crawl with it. I sent an email and ask if the one from my 01 would fit the 08. No, but they have a 55 gal for the 08s. If you need it let me know and go in the computer and find the name.

I have the transfer flow on my truck, it does hang down past the frame a little. You can see pictures in my profile page, the last 3 pictures are of the tank. It is very thick material and when I offroad I havent had any problems. It was also very good quality and built well for easy install.

It's Aero Tanks. Just type it in your browser and you'l;l find them. They are not cheap but mine was very good. Had it for 7 years or so without a problem. It replaced the OEM which was 28 Gallons and used all the stock hookups and sender. Only thing I had to do was bend the sender to make it reach the bottom of the bigger tank. Made the guage stay on full for a long time but as it went toward empty it got accurate. Hope this helps you.

Titan fuel tanks are the way to go. We have sold several of these to customers, all of which are satisfied with their fit and finish. For a CC/SB you would need part number 7020208 which is a 51 gallon unit. Let me know if theres anything I can help with.

I agree, I went with the Titan and am VERY happy with it. They are a bit pricey but installation is easy and you don't have to modify anything to make them fit. Guage will stay on full for a LONG time but once it starts moving it's accurate. They also make a skid plate that will work with the tank for I think around an extra $200. Good Luck

I will go with the Titan. However, I read somewhere that the 2008 1/2 version of the F250 crew cab with short bed had some extruded aluminum shaft bracket that precluded the tank fitting.
I guess I will have to check on that. I got mine end of June 2008.

The bracket easily unbolts from the frame. I also give thumbs up to Titan!

A quick question about the drivers info center. Can you recalibrate the size tank so that the miles to empty will still give you a ballpark estimate?

No you can't reprogram the tank size which is a bit of a PIA. Some companies that make tuners are supposed to be coming out with a program that will let you change the tank size but to my knowledge no one has released anything yet. You would think it would be possible on the larger trucks as Ford has to know the factory tanks are a little small but I guess they never put enough thought into that. It's always been my opinion that they should have something in the computer to allow you to change the tank and tire size as those are 2 very common things to change on a truck. IMO

I have a Trans-flow in my F450. It is a 50 gal with a tool box top. Love it. You have a gauge on your dash and when your stock tank starts getting low it pumps fuel into it. The monitor shows how much is in both tanks at all times and is right on to the gallon. enjoy

I've found that my needle stays on full for about 20 gallons worth of full, so once the needle starts moving I have around 30 gallons of fuel left, which is the same as a factory tank. So the dte is still rather close once the needle starts to move. It's not as much of a problem as I initially predicted.
