How much should I expect to pay for a 2" leveling kit including the front end alignment?
What are your opinions:
Can't afford new tires and leveling kit. I am planning to get leveling kit now and get 35x12.50x20 tires in 6-8 months. Do you all think it will look goofy with the stockers (275 55 20) until I can get the new tires. Will the front wheel well look too empty?
Just looking for your opinions.
Thanks in advance.<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message -->
There are leveling kits ($150 - $200 eBay) actually welded steel spacers that bolt above the top of the spring/shock assembly giving you 2" of lift w/o requiring removing the coils, but you will still have your stock shocks. Or, there are Bilstein shocks that use an adjustable metal C-clip (for stock height or to provide approx. 2" of lift) but the coils must be removed to install them. If you are handy, you can remove the spring/shock assemblies and add the spacer or take to a shop to swap out shocks (figure $50 for labor) and reinstall. Then take to alignment shop where they will charge you in the neighborhood of $120 for an alignment counting the extra $25 or so for 20" wheels. If I were doing this, I'd go with the top spacer and the Bilsteins with C-clip in stock setting and be done with it for the long-term. More money, but done right.
