I am currently looking at these to have something to scan and or diagnose things on my truck.Which one does more or would be best and why? Where is the best place to get one.
I have very limited use with scanners and am quite frankly intimidated by some of them. With all the info they can put "usually" alot of that would be useless to me.I quess what I am trying to say is that I need one that is also fairly uncomplicated.

The Auto Enginuity is not to bad to learn, and alot of us run them and can help you if you need.
Laptop is not a problem.Run one in a jeep I drive, tune, tinker with.Is there anything that the gauge can do better ? Doesn't sound like it but just checking.
I've got the gauge, and I like not having to dork with a lap top. I have almost everything at my disposal instantly that AE can do. I haven't seen AE work, but I like being able to see all the other stuff without having 17 gauges, too. Very simple interface and worth the $269 IMHO.
BTW, what is the other "half" of things that AE does that the gauge doesn't? I'm curious...

Well for starters it will scan and datalog every other vehicle in my driveway. That's just for starters though I am not really up on what the gauge can do.
LOL.... Oh okay then. Mine will read all Fords too. Not as easy to move it though. I'm thinking about buying or building another cable so I can simply move it to another vehicle if I want to temporarily.
I just bought the gauge for the reason i dont have a laptop, i saw the pics Joe posted and i wanted something to scan my truck after i got rid of my edge. have not got it yet but cant wait. i am sure the AE is better in a lot of ways. just did not feel like buying a laptop.
