What muffler are you running a Flowmaster 10, 40, 50, 70, etc. or if you dont know the number can you give the details on the size of the muffler? What rpm range is the resonance occuring?
Are you still wanting loud, quiet or in between? Because i have a small one chamber muffler (the case of the muffler is only 6" long) i really dont have any resonance when im in overdrive it actually is quiet (when im not in od it is just a loud exhaust).
more details the better though.
I'm partial to cherrybomb mufflers (not the glasspack mufflers) but just like others are partial to what they run their trucks.
Another good way is to get on youtube and just do a muffler search and see if any sound like what you are looking for.
bridge, tylus just directed mw to you this morning as I had Pm'ed him to ask what size maggie to get for mine. he said that you had one and would likely know the size. I see they list their kits as having a 5x18" body I think. Now I'm confused. You had the cracked weld that ble wout on the hanger right? other than that, and the poor service following, how was the sound? was is si/do or si/id? I'm on the fence what to do. the local muffler shop will weld on whatever I bring them, bending up their own
(cheaper quality I know) tail pipes for under $175.
I had a flowmaster 50 that was Real loud and a gibson 8" round 24-26" body si/do that was nice and deep sounding but it rusted out at the seems in 2.5 years, even before their tailpipes did (not good).
I bought mine as a cat-back SI/DO system that was supposedly stainless steel. I don't know the size of the muffler off-hand, but it's fairly small so 5x18 sounds right. I really like the sound, nice note at WOT, low rumble at idle and no drone at highway speeds. I had a flowmaster on my Mustang and it had too much drone.
I had problems getting it to fit up out of the box and one of the hangers aft of the muffler was in the wrong position for the stock hanger mount, so I couldn't use that one. Then the one forward of the muffler blew-out at the hanger weld after two years. So, the only thing supporting it now is the stock pipe connection and the rear hangers.
Other than that, the bad customer service and the fact that the "stainless steel" piping is completely rusted...I really liked the system.
After reading the posts on here 2 years ago, and going thro Youtube videos....I installed the Roush Off-road system on my truck....SI/DO that come straight out the back. Been on 2 years, and no problems....its STILL getting louder (it seems) as I drive more and more. Has a REALLY nice rumble when you're in the throttle hard...yet is barely noticable at idle.
The system was extremely easy to install (at least for a full cat-back system I thought)....and everything was direct-bolt-on. I was very impressed.
