Shock recommendations

I have a 2000 Ex limited, V-10 4WD with 47,000 miles on it. The shocks are the originals. I need to get new ones- any recommendations? I see other shock threads about lifted Exs or heavy duty off road use. Mine is stock height, has stock wheels and tires. I do mostly highway, but it is usually loaded to the gills with people and luggage (including a rooftop carrier). I'd like something better than stock, for better handling without killing the ride quality. Cost is also a concern (got laid off and the job market here is pretty dead).
Any thoughts on brand, type, or where to purchase for the best price?

Most people on these boards lean toward Bilsteins, They cost a little more but will give you good ride quality and long service life. I'm sure others will chime in with their opinions.

I'm another Bilstien flavored coolaid drinker. Always had good luck with them in the applications I've used them for.
