Keep grill level

I installed inner aprons and grill today; noticed level of rad doesn't seem to have any support to keep it level. What was stock way of keeping all the front clip from sagging ?

I found it was a lot easier to bolt the inner fenders, grill, fenders and radiator horse shoe all together and then install the whole thing in one piece. Makes it a bunch easier to get to all of the bolts. The ones around the grill are a bitch when it is on the truck. You can get every thing lined up and looking good before you get it on the truck. Leave the radiator out. Put rubber pad under the rad and set the clip on. Two bolts through the horse shoe and 2 bolts from the inner fenders to the firewall and you can stand back and admire your work.
My 2 cents

Thanks for input

Don;

I've got it all bolted up but I can easily move rad, even though it is bolted to support yoke.
All is fastened as you stated, but it can all move level to right or left.

Tom, if I understand your question, in the stock configuration the front of the clip is supported only by the radiator yoke. That yoke is mounted to the front cross member by two bolts in the bottom center with rubber pad, springs, and nuts. It is not a solid mount but rather a floating mount. That is the only place the forward part of the clip is attached to the frame. The inner fenders are sandwiched between the fender support bows and the radiator support yoke. With the radiator support yoke removed, the front clip is only attached near the fire wall and to the cab and will sag and move left or right with ease. Hope this answers your question.

Support front clip

It does Gil; so it would seem that the whole front clip "floats" , and could become un-level. I think I'm going to put in extra support to hold clip level to frame, unless there is a really good reason not to.

The thing that comes to mind is the frame flex. Don't know what a ridgid mounted clip would do with that.
