So I got the 445 up and going and it runs great. The only thing that concerns me is it holds like 62psi at idle and I cant get into any high rpm yet but cruising down the road it's somewhere around 75-80psi. This seems awfully high. I read the oiling mods word for word to the machinist. I just didnt expect such a difference.
Well are you running an electric Oil pressure gauge? Or a mechanical one ? You might have some tight clearances in the bearings...that will loosen up and drop the oil pressure after break in... and you may have a High Volume /high pressure Oil pump in it instead of just the High Volume ? and what weight of Oil are you running ?
Well it had a leak from on top of the filter where the sending units at. So with that fixed it now says 70psi at idle. The pump is the Melling m57hv. So I knew it was gonna be higher I just didnt know how much. The oil is 5w30. The engine builder said it's what he always uses for break in. If I need to run something different lemme know! Good to know that the psi is normal.
