2017 TPMS Light On with Aftermarket Tires?

Word from the company I'm talking to about the Suspension Lift, wheels and tires is that once I change tires (looking at Toyo 37 x 13.50) the TPMS light will come on and stay lit due to the tire pressure difference (stock tires are upwards of 80 psi while aftermarket are much lower).

Is this correct? Is this your experience? What did you do about it?

(Word is there's no product that can (yet) address/shut off the TPMS light).

Don't skimp on tires. Get tires that are rated to be used for what you might put the truck through. If you plan on towing, need to make sure tires are rated to handle the load you plan on putting on them. Pretty sure Ford can adjust the pressure point down a bit though.

Good advice but these tires compare favorably for every aspect (except the Toyo tires are much better off road). Note that the Ford factory tires max inflation pressure is 80 psi while the Toyo's max inflation pressure is 65 psi. Therefore, the TPMS light will come on and stay on.

Ford factory tires:
LT275/65Rx20 A/T*OWL
Rim Width 8.0
Section Width 11.2
Load/Index Load Rating 126/123E
Max Inflation Pressure 80 psi
Load Limits (lbs.) at Max Inflation Pressure 3750/3415

Toyo Open Country M/T Tires (20") are Load Rating E

37x13.5R20 Q
Max Load 3860 lbs
Max Inflation Pressure 65 psi
Weight 93.7 lbs
Size 37"
Made in Japan

Many forum members have setup ForScan and reset the TPMS alarm limits to accommodate different pressures. Mainly for improving ride, but your application is the same concept. Do a search on forscan in the forum to learn more.

Yup, exactly as Thumper said. I lowered my alarm threshold to 60 PSI in the rear for a better ride in the off season when not towing. Front can be left alone as it's 60 from the factory. Takes a minute or two with Forscan and while you're in there you can make some other nice tweaks. Read the Forscan spreadsheet thread for details and instructions.

I've heard about Forscan on the Raptor forum (used to own one) and on here too. I've spent some time browsing the Forscan threads and I've not seen any indication that it can be used to reset the TPMS settings.

THANKS GUYS for letting me know about Forscan's capability to do just that (I know it allows for more/other changes too).

I'll definitely check it out and read up to learn more.

You can adjust, mine came from factory with the lower settings. Only way to know for sure is lower your PSI on all four tires down to 65, then try 62, then try 60 and see what happens. Its a setting you have to change in Forsecan, as opposed to 'resetting' something. Your dealer can also do this, its about an $80 buck charge to change something. While your at it get them to set it so your driving lights stay on for low and high beam...
