Towing With Spartan 210 Tune
Has anyone towed heavy loads with the Spartan 210 tune? Before making this jump would like to hear some experiences when towing 15,000 to 20,000lb loads over varied highway elevations. This would be the large 5th wheel RV and loaded tandem dually 30 foot Goose neck. Presently running a 09 F-350 dually 6.4 Diesel CC long box 4X4 King Ranch. Thanks Ellis

Good grief what a load. I've never heard of tandem towing to that extent. How do you get your brakes to work on the tandem? I don't even know how you can hook up a goose neck tandem.
Only things I can think of (with no tune on my truck) is that you need to be able to monitor transmission and exhaust gas temperatures. EGT over 1400 should not be allowed by your Spartan set up.

I've towed between 21,000-22,000 with the 210 tune in Texas. None at any elevation unless you can count on my 179 feet above sea level!!!! If your towing 20,000 with the 210 tune I can tell you that your egt's will be way high going up any grades. Going up small hills here in Texas running 60 my egt's were as high as 1290f. I don't think you would have much of a problem with 15,000, but 20,000 well you better find some way to help cool it down.

If you're towing that heavy of a load just tune it down, when you get the spartan setup you get three tunes, so get the 150 or 175 for towing. The system will defuel if egt's get to high but why risk it? It only takes 15 minutes tops to load a tune so it's not a big deal. I haul a 22,000 lb telehandler on a regular basis and so I just tune it down to the 175 and don't come close to having a problem. While I'm unloading I tune it back up to the 210 and away I go. Listen to whatever mick tells ya though, he's the spartan man!

Towing the load I talked about above, my boost was 38.4. That's another great thing about the DashDAQ that Spartan uses. You can start a log file anytime you wish. That's what I did going up that small hill. Here's all the things I monitor:
Engine Coolant Temperature
Engine Oil Temperature
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature Sensor A (EGRT/EGRT-A (EGT's)
Fuel Rail Pressure
Transmission Fluid Temperature
Transmission Gear commanded
Engine RPM
Exhaust Back Pressure
Fuel Injector Pulse Width
Fuel Mass desired per stroke
Injector Timing
Intake Air Temperature
Manifold Gauge Pressure
Variable Geometry Turbo duty cycle
Vehicle Speed
Fuel Rail Temperature 1
