I picked up a 88 F250 and was wondering about redoing the upholstery myself.
Does anyone know where a good place to find the fabric for the seats and
any other things i may need for it. I tried doing some research online to find some kits
but I think I can just do everything my self for a lot cheaper.

I mean the duct tape looks good and everything its just that it's managed to hold for two owners
and I think it's about on it's last leg. If anyone has any advice please let me know

I would also try some of the bone yards--you may get lucky and find a nice seat from a truck of your vintage or newer.
Or just do the saddle blanket seat cover thing. Seems that ALL old pickups have saddle blankets-even my "young" 18 year old pickemup has a saddle blanket! The original owner put the saddle blanket on the seat when the truck was new-and the factory seats still look new underneath the saddle blanket. Just cant use the arm rest!
Not trying to hijack your thread, but on a related note, I have a couple of small tears in the seat of my F-150. It's fabric as well- does anyone know of a source for patch kits? The only ones I can find at parts stores are for vinyl or leather.
The only thing I could think of was these iron-on denim patches my mother uses to patch jeans for my dad. I would think that they'll hold up for a little while but I doubt if they'd stay permanently.

I would suggest having an auto interior shop replace the seat panel with new matching factory material. It is surprising how these shops can make a perfect panel replacement.
These trucks were made in the 800,000 volume plus each year-I bet that it is possible to have a replacement panel sewed into the seat cover.
I got new upholstery for my truck on ebay for about 100 bucks. A shop that did conversions in the 90s had removed it when the truck was new to put leather in it. So I have basically brand new OEM upholstery.

My favorite "U-Pull-it" boneyard gets $15. per seat--ANY seat. That's hard to beat (not tryin' to RAP here or anything--LOL). Of course, that was a few years ago, but what could it be up to, by now--$20.00? Take your better half on a cheap "date," and walk the boneyard...smell the fresh air, hear the bees, have a Coke and maybe find a new(er) seat--just my .02.
I found original Ford seat upholstery material (called "body cloth") on eBay for my '91. It was advertised as being for an Aerostar van but it was an exact match.
That is definately what I call effective use of duck tape on a cloth seat. You may also be able to get the seat fabric from LMC or National Parts Depot and possibly a new foam cushion to go with it.
There is a place called SMS Auto Fabrics in Portland, OR, that carries a lot of NOS body cloth and can get you the original fabric but they are kind of spendy.
I decided to do it my self.... I know my way around a needle a little so we are going to see how it goes I got some fabric from http://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/ca...px?ItmID=VY303.... worst case is i got buy a big role of duct tape and do it that way.... =-)
I am sure I could not do that. Congratulations on your good work. I recommend you check eBay every once in a while and see if you can score some of the original material then you can use your experience to redo it and make it look as good as new.
