Hey guys. New guy here. Always liked Broncos since my dad bought a 86 brand new back in the day. Got a 96 5.0 with that bad ford whine in the pulleys. What is that classic whine you here from alot of those year model 5.0s? And how do I get rid of that on my Bronc? Not when you turn the wheels mind you, just at idle.
It's full. Could be the p.s. pump. But I really dont think it is. I'm thinking maybe the smog pump. I had a 93 ford pickup that did it several years back and you here that same whine from alot of those year model 5.0s. Just a distinct whine at idle and gets louder as you give gas. Anyway, its on my list of first things to fix on my new Bronco. May try to bypass the smog pump.
Well the power steering pumps in these trucks are famous for their "Whine".
If you do a search on Saginaw power steering pump conversions, you will find all you need to address that issue.
However, that may not be your issue, but I can not tell without hearing it. Other pulleys and whatnot make their own sounds as they are on their way out, but it can be hard to tell sometimes. Perhaps with an automotive stethoscope.
Hope you figure it out
