My 05, F250 SD has a violent shake I believe it is called death wobble. Ford insist nothing is wrong, how ever if I hit a bump around 60+ MPH the truck goes into this violent shake. The truck is 100% stock, no lifts or big tires. ANYBODY ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM?
Ford has a TSB on that isue for 4x4 trucks but basically check and set your tire presure to the presure on the lable in your door jam. if that doesn't cure it take it to a good alignment shop and have them check the angle of your front axle. it may need to be shimed. the Ford TSB describes the procedure to check it. they have also sent out letters to owners about this issue. Also have your tires checked for out of round and the beging stages of tire seperation. My F350 did it until I got rid of the contintals and put bfg's on. I hope that helps you.
Had the same thing on my 2002 SD... Tie rod end on the left side was shot. Only had the bad wobble at one speed but could feel it all the time in the steering column..
i love the death wobble, makes me feel like I am racing baja on the freeways of Houston....
i too would like to get it fixed, i run 60psi in my tires all the way around, and i keep them there (check very often). I will be needing new tires soon, so I hope that solves the problem.
if not, i am going to look into a steering stabilizer.
Yeah, unfortunately many people will probably have to die before Ford fixes this. Mine also had it and it is spooky. Dealer told me to run tires at 80psi. I also had to put new tires on the truck and have a 4 wheel alignment done. Had to pay nearly $1000 for my part. Then, they put a new stabilizer on it and also the shorter "arm" for the suspension - sorry not sure what it is called. It did fix the problem, although I sometimes think it might be coming back 7000 miles later(and out of warranty now 37000 miles). It could be phantom though just because my confidence is blown when at highway speeds with the vehicle. At any rate. I'd follow their advice on tire pressure and look into the stabilizer. Others have said shocks as well on this site.
