Lifted out, no. Lifted, yes. Most of the time you have to remove the upper intake and sometimes disconnect the exhaust to get it up high enough to clear the crossmember.
I did my 93. I had to change the oil pump. Did it all in about 2 hours. Didn't rremove anything up top other than the engine mounts. Could have maybe removed the tranny mount to tip the engine further, but I didn't do it and it was easy enough.
When I put a new oil pan Gasket on I tried lifting the motor and that didn't work cause it hit the fire wall, the whole front of the motor was off of it cause I was working on the timing chain. I even had the transmission cross member off as well. One word of advice, put a new OEM oil pan gasket on instead of the cork gasket the cork doesn't last as long.
Does replacing two oil pan gaskets on two different trucks myself without lifting the engine count?
