you have a welder you can do it,its easy. Hold the new one on over the old, using a sharpe make it. Buy a cheap air hammer and cut the old one off leaving a 1/2 in lip to weld the new one on. Grind along the edge taking the paint off, hold the new one in place fitting it to the door edge the best you can and screw it on,weld it solid take screws out weld the holes shut, grind the welds flat and do your body work.
I do have a Miller mig machine but not much experience with sheet metal.

Thanks Bud Mud! I try to scrounge up some practice sheet metal. My mig is currently set up with flux core wire. I guess I need to get the gas and different spool wire before doing any bodywork.

Thanks for the offer as I to wish we were closer too. I'm always willing to learn something new from those who have much more experience than I do.
If you have any ???'s just ask, im more than glad to help you and anybody else that needs it. Im going to be doing a box side complete outer skin change thread in the spring. Im gonna show how to do it using inexpensive and basic tools, i have a few guy's on here that wants to see it.
Bud Mud, are you still around these boards? I bought a 79 ford last fall and this summer I'd like to replace a cab corner and above fender well this summer. Very limited auto experience or tools. Is a Mig welder the type of welder i should look to buy for this? What else should I be looking to buy? Aside from very basic tool set, I don't have much else at this point.
