The trun signal flasher unit started buzzing

2002 F-350 7.3 L Diesel Auto Trans

The trun signal flasher unit started buzzing - If I turn on the turn signals or touch the brake pedal the buzzing stops.

Replaced the 5-pin flasher Unit - no change.

Checked grounds at dash - no change

I'm thinging that there is a back feed or a ground problem.

Has anyone experienced this and if so what was the fix.

Thanks

Dan

Are you SURE you changed the turn signal flasher and NOT the 4-way flasher?

I could only find one flasher - a 5 pin flasher that operates the turnsignals and the 4 - way flasher.

I can feel the flasher click (Flashing) when the turn signals or 4-way flashers are operating - so I am sure there is only one flasher.

AllData shows only one flasher for the 2002 F-350.

I double checked the grounds today - no change.

I disconnected the brake lamp switch and no change.

It appears to be a feed back through the turn signal multifunction switch.

When I disconnected the multifunction switch the buzzing stopped.

I hate to replace the multifunction switch without knowing for sure that a new switch will fix the problem.

A new switch is $120 - not cheap.

F250 Flasher

Hello. I have similar problem. My directionals are intermittant. Both right and left. Where is the 5 pin flasher and how much did it cost?

I found my 5 pin flasher on the right side of the steering column - way high up in the dash.

It was in a large connector box with a plastic cover.

Cost about $17 at Autozone.

I ordered a new Multifunction Switch (turn signal, wiper, 4 way flasher combo switch) $70 @ autopartswarehouse.com

I think the problem that I have will be curred with the replacement switch.

I'll keep you all up to speed with the results.

Thanks

Dan

I replaced the multi-function switch (Turn signal switch) and the flasher buzzing noise stopped.

Seemed to fix the problem.

Hope this helps others
