Hello, I am searching for a stroker kit for a 428,,and was wondering if any of you guys got any good leads.I want to go with the 4.25 stroke and H beam rods.I`m looking for the best deal out there. Thanks
OK Barry, what can you hook me up with? I have a`66 428 out of a Thunderbird. The guys @USA Racing in Houston said that it magged OK,and the .030 bore is still good.I was thinking of stroking to a 4.250 crank,H-beams,flat top forged pistons. It wont be going in a truck but a `68 Mercury Montego.I will use aluminum heads. Thanks
I'm doing one similar, a '69 428CJ that was already run at +.030, and found that rings were available for +.035 bore size, 4.165- Ross made the pistons, a session on the CK-10, and the bores were cherry again, without going a full oversize, leaving the walls pretty strong. I didn't want to take chances with the CJ block as it was original to the car (actually dealer-installed when new), actually went with a 4.125 crank instead of the 4.250 to keep the cylinder wall load down, still 450 cid, concreted up to the freeze plug holes, dished pistons for 10.25:1 and E-bocks
292S- with that many inches, it'll be nice 'n streetable, it's going in front of a C-6 and 3.50's in a '69 Fairlane GT . Already found him a set of 9" slicks that'll fit in the fenders
I think you should talk to my buddy Barry for the parts- he'll make sure everything matches, and give you good prices on the whole kit. Tell him you're putting the engine in a Studebaker- you'll find out why
