Close Ratio C6
I want to find or build a close ratio C6 for my 66 F100 with a FE390. Truck will be used for commuting and driving around on weekends. No hauling or towing. The close ratio in first and second should provide quick acceleration in traffic and the 1 to 1 in third coupled with a 3.0 rear ratio and 265/75 R 15 inch tires should provide about 2500 rpm at 70 mph. I need advice on torque converter specifications and sources. And I am soliciting expertise and opinion from anyone on this forum.

William, what you probably really want is a "wide ratio" C-6 if I'm reading your post right. The wide ratios offer better (faster) acceleration in first and second gear but retain an "economy" 1:1 ratio in high. As far as I know all C-6s are close ratio. Ford installed the wide ratio gear sets in the E4OD auto trannys. You can purchase that gear set from Ford or a SVO Ford Motorsports Dealer. It will run you around $400 for the kit and will fit in a C-6. As far as tourque converters are concerned it will depend on how much modifications have been done to your engine, truck weight, gear ratio, intended use, etc. Deen
