AOD problems....

AOD problems....
Hey guys my 89 F150 shifts into overdrive with a loud thunk at low speeds.When under acceleration it is quieter and sometimes it shifts very smooth.
Also when I slow but dont come to a complete stop,then accelerate I get some spark knock before it down shifts.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
ps. truck has 57000 original miles.

AOD problems....
Hey John, I was having the same thing happen on my 83 150 with the AOD.The reason for mine was the the guy I bought it from had put a new edelbrock carb on int a had removed the TV cable and replaced it with a reg kickdown arm. I Installed the TV cable and the thunk when it shifted into OD went away. What I am wondering is that maybe your TV cable is out of adjustment.I know that it has to have just the right amount of presure on the cable for it to function right. I am still fine tuning mine, as when I slow down to make a turn, mine does not always shift down and seems to lug the engine unless I stomp on it and make it shift down. This is the first AOD I have had and so I am learning how it is suppose to feel and work. anyway it's just a thought on the adjustment thing.
