My ABS light came on after I replaced the alternator and battery...any ideas? I have no blow fuses and the charging system is working.
Back ground: 2002 Excursion V10 4x4 Limited w/112,000 miles
4 days ago after pulling in the drive way and shutting it off it would not start. It made a clicking noise and the tac and speedo needles went all the way over. I tested the battery and it was at 12.5 volts. I spoke with my father (retired mechanic) and he said it sounded like a bad battery. The battery was 4 years old so I replaced it with a new one. I did not test to see if the alternator was bad...we had just got back from a road trip from Florida to Texas (it has been over 100 degrees for a week).
Last night it did the same thing and test the battery and alternator. The alternator was bad (Autozone and Fluke tested) and the battery was at 8.5 volts. I had the battery warrantied and I got a new alternator.
This morning I put both the alternator on and the battery in and fired it up. The ABS light came on and will not go off.
When I put the key in the on position the light goes off until the pump under the hood makes a noise then the light comes on.
Did your battery light come on? I also have a 2002 EX and autozone is telling me the alternator is bad; however, I have no battery light while engine is running. The battery was replaced last month. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
