Subaru Valve Train Help
I have a 1991 Loyale,SPFI OHC ea82 engine that lost its valve keeper on #3 cyl. intake valve while the car was underway. No apparent damage to the valve train and the motor is non-interfearence. Cyl. walls and piston are in good shape.
I want to replace two rockers, the #3 cyl. intake valve and the assosiated keepers and springs. I want to retain the original cam as its in very fine shape too.
My question is,can I put diffrent rockers, new or used, on the existing cam without damaging the cam?
I can see where the valve tip is buggered where the keeper use to rest in the valve tip shoulders,so,of course I will replace the valve. But,I'd like to replace the associated components as well.springs, rockers and keepers and such. But not the cam. My concern is,I shouldn't put new or diffrent rockers on a old cam. It may ruin the cam. Is this true?
Any ideas or thoughts appreciated.
This is what I found in the bottom of the cam tower when I took the valve cover off. The keeper simply let go.

Did you post this on USMB? I was over there at lunch, but didn't see it. I've been cruising the classifieds and retrofit forums due to my EJ swap, so I could have easily missed a post in the Old Gen forum.
