Need more power

Hey everybody,I have a 97 F350 crewcab,7.3(207k),auto w/od(rebuilt 10k ago),diy 6637,downpipe and 4" exhaust with a gutted kitty and 4:10's and 33"s.
My trailer and wheelin rig weighs about 9500#.
What should I do about getting more power to tow my junk around. It is alittle under powered when climbing some grades in PA.

Whats the best bang for the buck?Chip, tuner, gears????

Please give me some opinions.

Stage one or two diy injectors and a tony wildman chip. Seems to be a good combo. If you go with the stage twos you MIGHT need a better HPOP. Not sure if the stock turbo can handle stage twos. I think the maximum boost the stock turbo can take is about 30 PSI But I am not sure so you might want to look into that. A boost gauge and pyrometer are a must if you get into all of this. Not sure how the stock injectors will do with the chip so you might want to hang out and wait for some people who know better than me come along.

Good Luck.

Best bang for the buck is injectors, hands down. For you I'd go with stage 1's, but definatly get some gauges. You'll need to monitor your exhaust temps for sure. However, you will need a chip to run the injectors, otherwise they will run stock without the correct programing. I prefer DP-Tuner, but the TW chip is awsome too. And since you tow alot, intercooler for sure, and you should be set.

I agree with RubberDuck... Stage I injectors (check out Rosewood Diesel for DIY kits), either a DP Tuner or TW chip, and an intercooler. And of course gauges to make sure everything is where it should be.

I wouldn't change out your gears. The 4.10's are good for towing and if you go much lower in gearing you'll be spinning pretty high RPM's at highway speeds with 33's.

Would he need head studs if he went with the stage two?

Thanks for the suggestions.I don't think I would fell comfortable with the DIY injectors and def. don't want to spend that much money on ones that are already done.

Would an Edge Evo or Max micro tuner help in any way?If so which one would be better?
Thanks...

I have a Edge Evolution. Its nothing to brag about. It has 3 HP settings and I don't notice any power gains on the two higher HP settings. It MIGHT be because I need some injectors the get the most out of it. IMO most if not all chips and tuners are going to be limited if you have stock injectors. The one good thing about the Edge is it is also a code reader so if the check engine light comes on you can read the codes. Others have had major problems with there PCM freezing up because they use a Edge tuner.

They will give you a bit, but from my experience with others trucks stay away from the other tuners/chips. Go with a TW or DP you'll be alot happier
