2002 F250 Power steering problem

2002 F250 Power steering problem
I have been having trouble with my 2002 F250 SD, the steering at low RPM is next to impossible.. If i put it into N I can rev the engine and it gets "easier" but not very. has anyone seen this problem? I do not want to replace the pump and find out that it wasnt the problem

My steering was difficult at a stop. A simple fluid flush has me spinning the wheels with ease. A couple qts of ATF and an hour to flush out the old fluid would be where I started. If the pump isn't whining all the time, then it's probably working.

Welcome to FTE. I agree with ReAX. Try flushing the fluid first. I used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF on mine. Here's the instructions on how to do the flush. http://www.superdutypsd.com/power_steering_flush.php

TIP: The PS system should be filtered (magnafine filter). Put one in after flushing the system.

power steering problems
my 02 f250 hd is on pump #3 many flushes. last pump i used 0/10w amsoil no noise pump seems to work better

Power steering still hums Wire unpluged??
Hi
My truch steering has been humming for about two years. Did a flush and seem to be OK, in the winter. but as it got warmer it started again. sooo Ford installed a new pump and flush " come and get it its fixed", It did the same thing thing as I drove out of the shop
Also when i stop and go a clunk happens greased the slip joint yoke seemed to be a little better ???
I checked under the hood and in the center there is a wire not connected ??
