hello everyone,im in the process of doing a transfer case swap an need some info. ive got a t18a from an 82 j20 with a 208 xfer.i believe this is the ford version of a t18,as it is different that the other jeep versions ive got. ive got a 31 spline 205 from an auto equipped bronco.it slides on and bolt pattern matches,only prollem ive got is too little spline engagement.the input gear sticks out much further on the 208 than it does on the 205,leaving only 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of spline contact.

the adapter between the t18 and 208 is the same length as the adpater between the 435 and 205 on my neighbors f250.i need eihter a longer tailshaft,a longer input gear,or maybe,a shorter adapter.

my questions are simply: a) do the manual trans 205s use a longer input gear? and b) what years,if any,was the t18 used in a ford 4wd witha 205 trnasfer case?
