i think my hubs or stuck locked. they or in auto t case is in 2high.
and i can not turn the u joints inside the nuckle, i looked at them then pulled up a bit and looked again and they were in a diffrent spot.
maybe just a rebuild on them and find my vacume leak and ill be ok.
iv only had this truck a few months.
i bought it from a laywer in houston texas who never had it off the pavement and never in 4x4. i talked to the shop that did his maintanance and they said he was good about letting them take care of it, but i guess the 4x4 was never looked at.
i think he owned it just because it was his third car and bigger than any of his law partners bmw's.
its a 2002 and only has 117000 miles, so he did not drive it a lot.
when i was looking at it he did not know what kind of oil was in it,where the spair tire was at or how to get it down, never had lifted the hood thats when he gave me a buisness card from the shop that did all the maintanance.

Oh boy...
One thing you could try is removing the locking hub assembly (just a big snap ring and a bit of tugging and they should pop out) and then try to turn the axle shafts and see if they free up then. I wouldn't drive it with the hubs removed, especially in wet weather.
thanks again guys, all the things i have learned here in the last few month would have taken me forever on my own.
you cant afford to buy this kind of info or help.

Sounds almost exactly what happened to me, except I bought mine from a rancher. I said screw it and bought new hubs since I was camping/off-roading in less than a week. I still have my "spares" in the garage waiting for me to take them apart and clean them (2 years later ). Best of luck!

True. I'm old and have done enough hub locking in the rain and mud, so I'm willing to shell out the $$$ and time to keep my ESOF working. I have read of people going to Warn manual hubs (not that there's any aftermarket ESOF options), and/or plugging their vacuum lines so they can have 2lo to maneuver trailers.

I have to say, even though I'm a young guy and getting out to lock the hubs never bothered me, being able to stay inside and flip that switch sure is nice I'm with you, I'd rather go full out trying to keep the ESOF going instead of swapping back to manual hubs if I can help it.
well one less problem a friend of mine was over today and i was telling him about the hubs being stuck. he reached down and turned the driveshaft, well it all spun free.
im a welder and the pipefitter i work with every day has a saying when someone is not putting out verry hard on a job(if you will put your purse down maybe you can do that)
well i guess i should have put mine down.
so the hubs or free and now all i have to do is find my vacume leak.
that frees up some money for the wicked wheel i want, maybe ill call clay in the morning and get one on the way.
thanks again Don

My truck is 10 years old in August and I have just recently had to put money into the ESOF system. Knuckle seal and yellow o-ring. Less than 50 bucks and some of my time working on it. Cant forget the great folks here and the wealth of knowledge they have that helped me along!
hey tig, my truck had the same symptoms, so went searchin for leaks. it turned out to be a gray vacuum line that comes up on the passengers side under the hood, and it attaches to what appears to be a heater hose. the gray line appeared to have just fallen off. plugged it in, everything is back to normal, to dang hot to be without ac.
thanks huntinfishn ill check that in the morning. things have been crazy around here lately, my wifes grandfather has been in the hospital and she has slept in a chair there all week me and the boys have been helping where we can.
there all home now so maybe ill have time to look at it after church tomorow.
and take time to call clay next week for that wicked wheel i have been wanting.
thanks again.
