O.k. guys. i bought an 86' B II a while back and the guy told me he changed the alt. but not the wiring harness...now the alt is not sending a charge..so.. my ? is..how easy/hard is it to change the harness? do i have to cut the wires and splice them? it has 2 connections on it,(the alt) one on top and one off to the the side..also, they are only 9$ at schucks.so no big expense.....thanx for any help...Bob
If you splice them use a Western Union splice, otherwise, just cut and strip and use butt connectors, if you use the marine ones with shrink wrap even better.

Have 88' BII 4wd-5spd-2.9ltr...Was driving one night and my headlights got dim and when i'd hit a bump they'd get bright again. Did this repeatedly till i got home. Next night i turned the key on and turned on the headlights and started yanking wires around starting from the Alternator Regulator connection and working my way to the front of the engine and then toward the firewall. Got to where the dipstick is and jiggled and they got bright again. Was one of the wires from the voltage regulator. It had been twisted together at one time and probably taped but it was now just barely together. Butt spliced it and taped it really good and now i've got plenty of power...and the wierd thing is it actually is running better now than it has in months...go figure!
