I've got a question for all you fellow spartan guys. I see on u-tube, guys doing what they call a boosted launch, where the smoke just POURS out of them before the tires start moving. How the heck is that done? The only way I can get it to do that is either do a brake stand (but tires are freaking expensive!), or hammer on it from a stand still. I know, stupid thread, but you know how it is, just want to impress the buddies without beating the crap out of my truck.
A boosted launch is simply holding the brake and giving it throttle to bring the boost up on the Turbo's. Then let go of the brake and you should take off like a banshee. I can get a lot of smoke out of mine if I do this and as far as I know that is all a boosted launch is. Unless I'm in the dark on this?
That's kind of what I thought but it seems to me that the minute I touch the throttle the tires break loose. I thought maybe there was more to it. Maybe I'm giving it too much throttle too fast.
Yeah you definately can't mash the throttle or you'll liquify the back tires. Just ease into it until you see the boost guage come up and then release the brake and really hammer on it.
You aren't going to get hardly any boost out of it in 2 wheel drive and standing on it. You need to put in in 4HI hold the brake and slowly give it some right pedal til it won't hold anymore then let off the brake and mash it.
for mine to do it i really had to hold the brakes down hard. slowly get on the throttle til turbos boost up. my stock tires would hold but the toyo mts will let go really quick
If you watch the you tube videos they hardly have any wheel spin and launch like a rocket. Only way to do this is massive traction which is 4x4. At least this is what i'm assuming but i have no personal experience. I just can't see any other way to get that kind of traction with those narrow tires and over 600hp plus a rocket launch.
Thanks much guys, yea the 4x4 idea never crossed my mind. Traction seemed to be my biggest problem, the tires would break loose immediatly, and holy crap! I've never seen a brakestand like that! My buddy was almost pissing himself he was laughing so hard. I didn't think I'd like the smoking of the 275 but it's fricken awesome. Like I said though, tires are expensive!
